Placelessness - la Garrotxa

This series of carefully chosen images approaches landscape by highlighting a detachment from the idyllic Garrotxa scenery. These scenes almost border the notion of banality and should be understood under the framework of ‘no-spaces’.

The artistic approach honors the work of the ‘New Topographics’. Emerging in the 1970s, this movement redefined the subject of landscape by shifting the imagery from pristine, romanticized nature to the unembellished and mundane “man-altered landscape.”

This series was developed during the 2026 RCR Architects Summer Workshop and reviewed by Hisao Suzuki and Flavio Coddou.
